In the month prior to their wedding in April 2011, William and Catherine set up a gift fund to allow well-wishers to donate money to charities they care about in lieu of gifts. The gift fund supported 26 charities of the couple's choice, incorporating the armed forces, children, the elderly, art, sport and conservation.
